The Transportation Research Board (TRB) issued a call for papers for its 91st Annual Meeting that will take place in Washington, D.C. in January 2012. The Annual Meeting attracts 11,000 transportation professionals from around the world to create a platform of communication on transport issues. The program covers all transportation modes and provides opportunities for knowledge exchange through more than 4,000 presentations and 650 sessions and workshops.

Paper submissions for the 91st Annual Meeting will open on June 1, 2011. While papers addressing any relevant aspect of transportation research will be considered, some TRB committees provide specific categories to help potential authors identify topics for their papers.

  • Transportation System Policy, Planning Process
  • Travel Analysis Methods
  • Environment and Energy
  • Social, Economic, and Cultural Issues
  • Design and Construction
  • Pavement Management
  • Structures
  • Construction
  • Concrete Materials
  • Geology and Properties of Earth Materials
  • Soil Mechanics
  • Operations
  • Maintenance and Preservation
  • Public Transportation
  • Freight System

Last year’s meeting, titled, “Transportation, Livability, and Economic Development in a Changing World,” brought together policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers and representatives of government, industry and academic institutions with workshops ranging in topics from the environmental impacts of high-speed rail to how to double ridership to enhance livability and productivity.

Interested authors should consult TRB’s guidelines for preparing and submitting manuscripts. Authors can also submit manuscripts for Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board (TRR).
